[ Japan was strolling along the gardens, checking out some empty space when he comes across Minato. Although a bit surprised, he smiles at the child sleeping on the bench and covers Minato with his kimono haori (outer wear) lightly and quietly to not wake him up. ]

Not many people do nowadays. It is a bit complicated as well.

Someday it might be useful to know here. [New Year's? Other occasions? Just to know how would be good information to just keep in mind.]

I never did ask how you felt about traditions changing over time. [Since Japan must have witnessed so many changes already.]

Perhaps. To tell you the truth, I was thinking if the vendors might sell a small sakura tree so I could plant it somewhere here in the garden. Haru-san gave me the idea, and I do miss the flower greatly.

I do not dislike change. However, it does make me feel lonely when the traditions I did enjoy changing. But new traditions are made and if I feel up to it, I can always celebrate it by myself.

[Sakura trees. He did like those as they reminded him of home again.]

If you find one, I can help you care for it. A tree planted by a former resident is still in the garden. [Having a sakura tree would be like evidence that Japan had been there at all.]

I haven't thought about the older traditions as much. I should though.

And then if we are here next spring we can have a hanami.

You do not always have to. There are reasons why some traditions fade away while some still stay.

I'd like that. I missed the last one at home.

True. [He nodded.] But studying the older ones is good too. You were able to get a kimono from the closets?

It was summer when I left, and there was none last year. So it has been a while since I got to hanami.

Yes, you can.

It'll be something to look forward to next year.

[Minato nodded, thinking he should try to get one then.]

Once I get one, I can let you know. If it's of no trouble to you.

Yes. Although it would be odd to think I would be here next year...

[ smiles ] Of course it is no trouble. I am free any time.

Mn, I'm not sure if we will be. But it's possible. [Still, it would be nice to spend it with his friends here.]

Thank you. Perhaps in a few days.

I do appreciate it, Japan-san. It's not something I've had the chance to do at home.
