The Sound Of Rocks Hitting The Window

Title:  The Sound Of Rocks Hitting The Window
Pairing:  Kibum/Sungmin

Because there weren't any cellphones at that time, tossing rocks on the bedroom window was the only way to get the person's attention in the middle of the night - or any time of the day - as long as the said person is inside the room.

Kibum didn't expect a lot of people to be tossing rocks on his bedroom window every night but he never opens the window or looks outside the window. He would continue studying as he ignores the sound of rocks hitting on the window pane.

It's only when the sounds stop and when Kibum would finish studying that he would move to stand in front of his window. His hands reached out the curtains, ready to close them but he caught a glimpse of a person on the ground.

The said person was currently reading a book (Kibum isn't sure if the person was studying or simply reading for fun) but as if sensing Kibum's gaze, he looked up from the book he was reading.  He smiled at Kibum and did a small hand wave.

Instead of closing the curtains which Kibum first intended to do, he found himself opening the window.  "What are you still doing here? It's cold and late at night."

"I just wanted to say goodnight."

Kibum was quite surprised at that because he was expecting to receive a confession because he knew the people tossing rocks on his window wanted to confess and serenade and all that romantic stuff.  Either that or ask him to hang out with them to the clubs and bars, and whatever people do for fun at night.

"Goodnight!" The person said, not waiting for Kibum's reply as he walked away from Kibum's house.

The same thing happened the next night.  The people who tossed rocks on his window left but the same person remained.  "You should go home now."  Kibum said after opening the window.

The person nodded.  "I will.  Goodnight!"  He turned and began to walk away.

"What's your name?!?!"  Kibum yelled, feeling a bit embarassed at how his voice seem to echo through the night.

The person looked back at Kibum with surprise written all over his features before smiling and replying.  "Sungmin."

"Goodnight, Sungmin."  Kibum said and hurriedly closed the window and curtains so that Sungmin wouldn't be able to see the blush that was starting to form on his cheeks.

"Are you really just here to say goodnight?"  Kibum asked the next night.

"Yup!"  Sungmin replied cheerfully before looking a bit mischievous. "Were you expecting me to say something else?"

"No."  But the tone Kibum used obviously implied the opposite.

"Honestly, I just want us to be friends."

Kibum blinked.  Friends?  That was something new.

"Friends for now."  Sungmin emphasized.

Kibum felt himself blushing again because that was like a confession though not exactly a confession.  Well, more like an introduction to a confession that would probably happen in the future.

They spent their nights talking and trying to get to know more of each other.  Kibum would sit on the window sill while Sungmin would sit comfortably on the grass and look up at Kibum.  Kibum didn't expect Sungmin to be 3 years older than him because Sungmin really looked young and cute.  Sungmin also didn't expect Kibum to be younger than him because he looked really mature and handsome.

"You don't seem to know much about me."  Kibum stated because he was fully aware that the people who liked to toss rocks against his window had at least his bio data information but Sungmin really doesn't seem to know about any of this.  "How could you be interested in someone you don't seem to know much about?"

"At first, I was just curious about this handsome boy they kept on talking about who refused to open his window so I just came here to see how much stubborn you were.  I didn't expect you would open your window when you saw me alone late that night.  I figured it would be nicer to know things about you from yourself than from the others."

Sungmin was paying attention in class when he heard the familiar sound of rock hitting against the window.  Only Sungmin had heard it because the entire class was noisy doing their own business while the teacher continued to discuss in a bored manner, not caring if the students listened to her or not.

Sungmin looked outside the window and saw Kibum standing right down below.  He immediately gave off some sort of excuse to the teacher before leaving the classroom.  "What are you doing here?  Are you cutting classes?"  Sungmin asked as his eyes traveled up and down on Kibum, who was wearing a different school uniform and had to admit that he looked good in a blazer.

"It's my first time to toss a rock against a window, you know."  Kibum said, not answering Sungmin's question.

But Sungmin understood what Kibum meant.  "Although I like the gesture, I hope you won't make it into a habit.  Tossing a rock against the
school's window.  Not to mention, this isn't even your school."  Sungmin chuckled.

"For a while now, I've always wanted to toss a rock against your window but I thought it'd be weird if I told you to stay home and not to come to my house so I came here instead to toss a rock against your school window.  No, I won't make it into a habit.  I just wanted to let you know that I'm interested in being more than just friends."  Kibum's finger hooked on Sungmin's necktie, loosening it.

"That's great."  Sungmin managed to say before being engaged in a kiss.

Later that night, there wasn't any tossing rock against Kibum's window because the window was completely open.  Kibum and Sungmin were sitting on the window sill while talking to each other and letting everyone see that Kibum's window was no longer available for tossing rocks.
