Title:  Hand Multilator
Pairing:  Kyuhyun/Sungmin

It started out with the recital of a famous pianist.  He was giving out his final performance when suddenly there was a black out.  There were some gasps and screams of shock and surprise, but what really stood out was a loud scream of pain.

"AAAHH! MY HANDS!!"  It came from the pianist.  When the lights went back on, the audience could see the pianist's hand was stuck under the wooden cover.  When the cover was lifted, the pianist's hands were already badly deformed.  No doubt that the bones of those hands were fractured.

The second incident happened to a young and talented violinist.  While on his way home, he was attacked by a masked man.  He was beaten up badly and his hands were hit by a baseball bat repeatedly. Because of these two incidents, many musically-talented people started to be afraid.

The third incident proved that you don't have to be talented with a musical instrument to be next victim, because the third victim was a talented cook in a 5-star restaurant.  It happened when they were closing up for the day. The employees were cleaning the dining area, and it just happened that the chef was left alone in the kitchen when a masked stranger attacked him, burning the chef's hands with the fire lit from the stove.

Why the hands?  Why not other parts of the body?  Heck, cutting off a penis was even much more understandable.  The three incidents were all over the news.  The police were investigating, suspecting a lot of occult clubs and then there were also some people seeking some attention by claiming to be the "hand multilator" as they named it.

Kyuhyun really hated how his friends kept on teasing him about being the next victim, because he was talented with his hands on the computer or any game console.  He even considered stopping himself from playing for a while until this hand multilator incidents die down but his hands seem to itch if he can't play a game at least one hour a day.

It also bothers him whenever he sees Sungmin, who is his classmate without a left hand.  There were a lot of rumors going on as to why Sungmin's hand was amputated but nobody knows the truth because whenever someone was bold enough to ask Sungmin about it, Sungmin would give out excuses like needing something to do or somewhere to go.  Obviously implying that he doesn't want to tell them about it.

It even weirded him out when Sungmin told him that he really might be the next victim.  "You really could be the next victim.  Who knows?  The murderer might be jealous with your gaming skills."  It scared Kyuhyun because Sungmin wasn't teasing him like his friends.  Sungmin was serious.

"There are a lot of gamers better than me."  Kyuhyun was feeling nervous and breaking out cold sweat.

"No, there aren't a lot since you are considered as one of the few best."  Sungmin pointed out.  "On the other hand..." He raised his left wrist showing off his missing hand.  "I mostly lose on such games because of my disadvantage."

Kyuhyun stared at the wrist stump.  For a while, he considered Sungmin as the hand multilator, but that shouldn't be possible because the victims never described the hand multilator as having a missing hand.  "Do you want to play a game with me?"  He still felt weird and awkward, and heck, a little bit scared around Sungmin but he wanted to help Sungmin somehow.

"There's no fun in losing, you know, and I'll obviously lose with my disadvantage versus your great gaming skills."

"I asked you to play with me.  I didn't say play against me."  Kyuhyun didn't know where he had the courage to reach out and touch Sungmin's left wrist stump.  "I'll be your left hand.  We'll play against other players.  What do you say?"

Sungmin was  very surprised at Kyuhyun's suggestion and the way he was holding Sungmin's stump.  "Sure.  We better hurry in finishing up our cleaning duties then."

At the arcade, a lot of people stared at them because they recognized the gamer king Kyuhyun, how Sungmin was a missing hand, how they were playing together having a great teamwork against their opponents.

"It's been a long time since I last had so much fun in an arcade."  Sungmin couldn't stop smiling from the moment they first won until they walked away from the arcade.  It's the first time Kyuhyun saw so much happiness on Sungmin's face.

"You're cute when you smile like that."  Kyuhyun wasn't able to stop himself from saying it the moment those thoughts entered his mind, but he couldn't find it in himself to feel embarassed since it's the truth.  For a moment, he thought his heart was about to burst when Sungmin directed a smile at him.

"Thank you so much for today, Kyuhyun.  I don't think the hand multilator would attack a nice person like you."

Kyuhyun's mood instantly drop at the mention of the famous criminal.  "So you're saying his victims weren't nice?"

"A lot of people loved those victims because of their talent.  Not because they're nice."

Kyuhyun didn't like the way Sungmin was talking as if he knew the victims very well.  "How do you know they're not nice?  I think the violinist, Henry, seems pretty nice."

The smile was no longer on Sungmin's face.  Kyuhyun started to feel nervous and scared of Sungmin again.  "Well, Henry is nice I guess.  The other two victims; however, aren't nice.  If you haven't proved me wrong today, Kyuhyun, you really might have been the next victim."

"Sungmin, are you... ?"

Kyuhyun wasn't able to finish his question but Sungmin seem to understand it.  "Of course not.  I was just teasing you."  He was smiling again but not the same smile that Kyuhyun had seen in the arcade when they were having fun.  Kyuhyun doesn't believe that Sungmin was just teasing him.  There just seemed to be something hidden in Sungmin's smile.

When Kyuhyun arrived to school the next day, there was a lot of buzz going on.  The hand multilator just had his fourth victim who turned out to be  "Kibum...?"  Kyuhyun couldn't believe that the victim this time was actually his friend - and Kibum was an awesome gamer.

Kyuhyun's thoughts returned to the conversation he had with Sungmin yesterday.  His eyes found themselves locked with Sungmin's gaze.  "It could have been you."  Sungmin said but it didn't feel the same way as the rest of friends said those exact same words to him.  When Sungmin said it, a shiver ran down at Kyuhyun's spine.

"Sungmin, are you really...?"  Kyuhyun asked when it's just the two of them in private.

"Yes and if you tell anyone, I might go as far as killing you."

Kyuhyun regretted asking that question after hearing Sungmin's answer.

"By the way, you were never my target.  It had been Kibum since the beginning.  I really was teasing you, just not the way your friends were teasing you."  Sungmin smiled again. It was cute in an evil kind of way.

"I don't believe you."  Kyuhyun said because everything just felt surreal, or maybe he was just scared for everything to be reality.  "You're just one of those people who wants attention so they claim themselves to be the criminal."

"Attention?" Irritation was written all over Sungmin's face and heard clearly on his tone of voice.  "I already have a lot of attention because of my missing hand.  I don't need any more attention."

Kyuhyun suddenly felt guilty.  "Sorry, that's not what I--"

"I'm starting to like you, Kyuhyun.  Please don't make me hate you." Sungmin's sudden confession definitely worked on shutting up Kyuhyun.  "Let's just forget everything about the hand multilator incidents and not to talk about it ever again, okay?"

Kyuhyun nodded.  "I'm still sorry."  He reached out to hold Sungmin's wrist stump again.

"You can make it up to me in so many ways starting with a kiss."  Sungmin stepped closer, bringing his face closer to Kyuhyun.

Kyuhyun closed the gap between their lips, feeling a whirlwind of emotions caused by none other than the person he was currently kissing.

Kyuhyun visited Kibum, who was missing his thumb and pointing finger in both hands.  "How are you?"  Kyuhyun asked knowing that a lot of people probably asked Kibum the same question already.

"As fine as a person with missing fingers can be."  Kibum replied with a shrug.  "Honestly, it's not so bad after getting over the fact that I won't be the best gamer in the computer world anymore."

"Why do you think you became the victim, Kibum?"

"You ask the same questions as those stupid reporters, Kyuhyun, but since you're a friend that I trust, I'll tell you."  Kibum made a motion of his hand that tells Kyuhyun to come closer.  "I'm actually a hacker in a criminal organization."

Kyuhyun widened his eyes.  "I thought you were simply a hacker for fun!"

"Yeah but apparently the boss found my talent quite excellent so they bribed me to be their hacker.  In the long run, I started to feel guilty and wanted to quit but I can't because it means death.  However..."  Kibum raised both of his hands with the missing fingers.  "...I'm free now because of these missing fingers.  I can't be the best hacker anymore but at the same time, I also earned their trust because after all the interviews and contact with the police I made, I never uttered a single word about the criminal organization.  I can live my life peacefully now."

Kyuhyun closed his mouth the moment he realized he actually had it open while listening to Kibum's story - but not the jaw-dropping-on-the-ground kind of open, just a small opened mouth.  "So in a way, you're actually thankful to the hand multilator."

"In a way, yes.  You know that the victim before me was a famous chef, right?" Kyuhyun nodded.  "Since I used to be in a criminal organization, I know some crimes that the police don't know of.  That chef may be really talented in cooking but he's not very original.  Some of his recipes were stolen from other people even going as far as killing to obtain those recipes."

"So in a way, you're saying this hand multilator could actually be a good guy?"  Kyuhyun asked after analyzing the situation.

"Yeah.  He just have a twisted way of showing.  Would you like some coffee?"  Kibum asked.

Kyuhyun thought it was weird to see Kibum holding the mug of coffee with just three fingers.

"Maybe next time.  I need to go now.  Thanks for telling me."

"Have you seen a psychiatrist before?"  Kyuhyun braced himself as he expected for Sungmin to go mad at him for implying that he might be crazy.

But instead, Sungmin replied calmly.  "Yeah.  I had some trauma over this."  He raised his missing hand.  "The psychiatrist did help me get over my trauma... but I'm not sure if that's a good thing, because I'm going out destroying people's hands."

Instead of the usual first romantic dates that included strolling at the park or at the beach, watching movies and eating at a restaurant, they were were currently at Kyuhyun's living room with a game of Tekken paused on the T.V. screen in front of them and eating delivery pizza.  It wasn't romantic but it was comfortable and they both prefer comfort than romance.

"Does it gross you out to be talking about bloody mobid things while eating?"  Sungmin asked.

"No, not really."

"Good.  Because I'm going to tell you how I lost my hand."  So Sungmin began with his story.

There was an old woman who liked to kidnap children.  She tried to make them her own, tried to treat them well but the children were scared of her, crying for help or crying simply for the fact that she had scared them.  Whenever the children started to cry or try to escape, she would sew their lips shut or break their legs. It turned out that this woman was really crazy.  Some of the children died because the food she served them was sometimes expired or rotten. If they didn't eat, they starved to death, and for those who had their lips sewed shut, they either ate soup or starved to death.

Sungmin was only 7-years-old when he was kidnapped by the crazy woman.  He saw this woman sewing a child's lips, saw how other children were beaten up to death or with broken legs or whatever part of the body, saw how other children got weak, thin, struck with fever and whatever unknown disease then died.

Sungmin didn't want to die like that.  He was young but his survival instincts kicked in.  He picked up anything that was within reach and beat up his left hand with it.  He stuffed a lot of cloth in his mouth so he wouldn't scream because of the pain.  He continued to beat up his left hand until it was very broken and capable of slipping out of the handcuffs.

The reason why the children who tried to escape but couldn't was because of the huge black dog outside.  In Sungmin's case, he offered his left hand to be bitten as a distraction so he could use his right hand with a knife he took from the kitchen to kill the dog.

After that, he had a long walk down from the mountain.  His goal was to reach back in town before the sun comes up but he was weak and hurting.  The sun came up high on the sky and he still wasn't in town.  When he saw the crazy woman from afar, his survival instincts kicked in again.  Suddenly, he was full of energy and running fast.

Sungmin finally ended up in a wide road below but the chase wasn't over yet as he continued to run on the road with the crazy woman chasing behind him.  Then suddenly there was a large truck coming fast in front of them. The truck continued to blow the horn and the driver even shouted "Get out of the way! The brakes are broken!!!"

Sungmin had a quick reflex.  His left side touched the side of the truck but he was fine.  When he turned his head, he could see the truck bumped into a tree.  Between the truck and the tree was that crazy woman's body.  Feeling relief, trauma and hurt all at the same time, Sungmin finally allowed himself to faint out of exhaustion.  His last thoughts were "I'm going to die".

But Sungmin was alive.  The doctors said it was a miracle and that it wasn't easy because besides, Sungmin's injuries and fracturies, he was also infected with rabies from the dog. He was full of medications so there were a lot of side effects as well.  After a month, he was finally improving with his injuries but his psychological state wasn't any better.

Sungmin was mute, paranoid and hysterical.  That went on for almost a year, which is why he was held back from school.  When Sungmin finally got over his trauma and started to talk, he started going back to school.  It wasn't until Sungmin reached his last year in elementary that he finally got the courage to tell his psychologist and family what really happened.  He also decided to have his left hand amputated because it only contained bad memories and that it was beyond repair and completely useless anyway.

Before Sungmin started high school, he got his hand amputated then his entire family moved from the province to the city where he is right now to help him start anew.

"But then I came here and saw how people are doing bad things with their hands.  Something inside me wants to punish them so I ended up being the hand multilator. But Henry was different.  He was miserable with his talented hands so I thought I could set him free if I damaged his hands." Sungmin ended his story.

If he's crazy, at least he has a good reason to be one.  Kyuhyun thought as he hugged and placed a kiss on Sungmin's forehead.  "So you're not going to stop being the hand multilator?"

"No.  I already have some people in mind to be my next victims.  Do I scare you? I would understand if you don't want to have anything to do with me."  Sungmin tried to move but Kyuhyun's arms continue to hold him still.

"You scare me sometimes when you talk about being the hand multilator but most of the time when you're with me, you're just... Sungmin and I really like you."  Kyuhyun nuzzled  his head against of junction between Sungmin's neck and shoulder.

"What if I said I killed my ex-boyfriend?"  Sungmin could feel Kyuhyun becoming all tense.

"You always have your reasons so I'm going to assume that he probably did something that deserved to be killed."  Kyuhyun loosened his hug on Sungmin.  He reached out for his playstation controllers.  "Speaking of killing, I could probably kill your character multiple times on Tekken."

"That's unfair.  You know I don't have fingers on my left side."  Sungmin pouted.

"I'm going to make a fist out of my left hand and pretend that it's amputated when we play but even if it's like that, I'm pretty much sure I'll win."  Kyuhyun said confidently.

"I really like it when you're being considerate."  Sungmin leaned, his right hand on Kyuhyun's chest to balance himself as he kissed Kyuhyun.  "I'll never kill you, Kyuhyun even if you did something that deserved death.  I like you that much."

"Well, you're a hand multilator.  You're known for damaging hands, not killing."

"True."  Sungmin laughed.  "But I am capable of killing just so you know.  I killed the dog... and my ex-boyfriend."

"Yeah but I like you too."

Hours later, Sungmin was asleep on Kyuhyun's couch and using Kyuhyun's leg as a pillow.  Kyuhyun was holding his cellphone.  He had recorded their conversation earlier.  At first, he intended to use this date to get more evidence and now that he finally has it, he's not sure what to do with it anymore.  He looked at Sungmin's peaceful sleeping form.

Kyuhyun's finger pressed the delete button.  "Deleted and gone forever.  I thought I was pretending but I guess I really do like you."

"Thank you."

Kyuhyun almost jumped out of his seat.  He didn't expect for Sungmin to be actually awake.  "Were you just pretending to be sleeping?"

"Yeah because I knew your intentions." Sungmin took Kyuhyun's cellphone to confirm if he really deleted it.  "I didn't expect you'd change your mind.  Thank you for deleting it."

Kyuhyun nodded.  "So... what now?"

"Do you want to be in a relationship with me for real?"  Sungmin asked knowing about Kyuhyun's true intention when they had their date and that he was lying about his feelings earlier but just now, Kyuhyun just said that he liked him when he thought Sungmin was sleeping.

"Do you really like me?"  Kyuhyun asked back.

"Yeah.  I've never met anybody that I had so much fun with before and you're just really comfortable to be with, but I'd understand if you don't want to be with me. Even if you didn't delete the recorded conversation, even if you gave it to the police, I really wouldn't have killed you." Then Sungmin confessed and repeated his words earlier.  "I like you that much."

It didn't matter anymore that Sungmin was the hand multilator because at that moment, the only thing Kyuhyun wanted to do was to return Sungmin's feelings.  "Then let's have another date, in which my only intention around this time is to fall for you."

THE END

A/N:  It was really hard for me to try to write another morbid fic~  (I still like my Dead Bodies fic with OnTae pairing better~ ^^;;)  but this fic actually turned out pretty good the more I wrote it.  Originally, I planned for it to be a multi chaptered fic but I was quickly losing interest so I thought it's better to just write it as a one-shot instead of dragging it out any longer.  I hope you all enjoyed this and please comment!!!
