Chapter 3

Ryeowook doesn’t know why he went along with the act as Yesung’s boyfriend but one thing is for sure, it felt natural
and comfortable. The day Yesung announced Ryeowook as his boyfriend was the same day that Yesung offered Ryeowook to walk home only to find out that they actually live right next to each other. Because of this, they started going to school or going home together.

Yesung made it a point to keep on holding hands when they walk together. He made it a point to visit at Ryeowook’s classroom during recess. He made it a point that he and Ryeowook should have lunch together in some quiet place with just the two of them.

The way that Yesung behaves around Ryeowook like a real possessive boyfriend should have bothered Ryeowook but it didn’t. He likes how Yesung’s arm would wrap around on his waist possessively when he talks with someone else, or naturally when Yesung simply feels like it. He likes how Yesung would kiss him on the cheek even if it was only to let others think that they’re a loving couple.

It bothers him that he actually likes the things Yesung does for him so he would react in the opposite way to hide how he was feeling. “Yuck…don’t leave behind some saliva on my cheek.” Ryeowook says as he wiped his cheek but there wasn’t really any saliva on it. “And stop giving me a kiss in front of the students. All of them already know that we’re a loving couple.”

“If I stop kissing you, they might think we’re in a fight or something. But if you really want me to stop kissing you, I will.”

“You will?” Ryeowook was surprised that Yesung agreed on it easily.

“Yeah. In fact, we can stop seeing each other this week and make people think we’re in a fight. Then next week, I’ll get to kiss you in front of them on the lips.” Yesung seemed like the thought of this plan thoroughly.

“What?!?! Forget that plan!!! There’s no way I’m letting you kiss on my lips.” Ryeowook covered his lips with his hand after saying that with a blush that was starting to form on his cheeks. He’s annoyed with himself because he couldn’t stop his heart from beating excitedly on the thought of Yesung kissing him on the lips.

“We’ll see about that.” Yesung suddenly yanked Ryeowook’s hand away and pressed him lips against Ryeowook’s lips. It was simply a touch of lips with a bit of pressure. Yesung didn’t do anything else and stepped away from Ryeowook after a few seconds. “Sorry, I just stole a kiss.” He grinned and didn’t look apologetic at all. He started to frown and worry when Ryeowook dropped his head without any reply to Yesung. “Are you angry?” He couldn’t see Ryeowook’s expression because it was covered by the bangs.

“Not really. Just don’t do that again.” Ryeowook said in a soft voice and avoided Yesung’s gaze. He started to walk fast towards his classroom. Class was almost starting anyway.

Yesung simply stared at Ryeowook’s form. He expected Ryeowook to be angry, to slap him or maybe even a punch. But for Ryeowook to act subdued was not the Ryeowook he knows. Ryeowook was always angry at him and always complaining at the things he do. If not angry, Ryeowook should have at least criticized the kiss or told him he was a bad kisser or something. That got him thinking about Ryeowook’s attitude.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

“He’s quiet and shy but he can get really talkative to his close friends.” Donghae said.

“He has a lot of patience. I’ve never seen him angry before. He doesn‘t even complain.” Sungmin

“He criticizes but he doesn’t mean it in a bad way. In fact, I appreciate his criticism. They’re usually helpful towards my assignments or projects.” Kibum said.

Yesung asked about Ryeowook’s attitude from Ryeowook’s friends. He concluded that the Ryeowook he knows is quite different from what Ryeowook’s friends know. So which one is the real Ryeowook? He decided to start observing Ryeowook more closely from now on.

*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Ryeowook just finished having his dinner and went to his room to start doing his assignment. His room has a glass sliding door that lead to a small balcony. He finds the existence of the balcony pretty stupid because the only view he can see is his neighbor’s house and specifically a large window.

The said large window opened. Yesung jumped out of it and landed on Ryeowook’s balcony. He slid the glass door and entered Ryeowook’s room uninvited. “So this is how your room looks like.”

“You don’t just go in other people’s room without permission!!!” Ryeowook fumed.

“It’s not my fault that the glass doors are not locked which simply means you’re inviting anybody, probably even a thief, here.” Yesung said as he took a magazine from the table, sat on Ryeowook’s bed casually and flipped through the pages of the magazine.

Ryeowook’s eyebrow twitched and he could also feel his veins popping out. He never bothered to lock the glass doors because the village is peaceful. There aren’t any news or rumors about thieves or criminals living in the same village. But he should probably start locking the glass doors now to avoid an intruder named Yesung. “Get out. Go back to your house.”

“No, I like it here.” Yesung changed his position from sitting to lying down on Ryeowook’s bed and held the magazine up in the air while he reads an article in it.

Ryeowook kicked his trash bin in frustration. The trash, which are mostly composed of crumpled papers and wrappers, fell to the floor and although Ryeowook likes his room clean, he can’t be bothered with the trash right now. He’s too bothered by his uninvited guest. Ryeowook sat on his chair, fumed silently and glared at his innocent Math textbook.

Yesung was only pretending to read the magazine. He was actually observing Ryeowook quietly. As soon as Ryeowook has calmed down, he started putting the trash back in the trash bin and started to work on his math homework. He can see Ryeowook’s eyebrows furrowed in concentration and the unsure look that crosses on the pretty face sometimes. Woah, did he just think of Ryeowook as pretty?

“How long are you going to keep on staring at me?” Ryeowook turned his head and glared at Yesung. “Shouldn’t you be back in your own room and be doing some homework or whatever you do in that room of yours?”

Yesung looked at the small clock on Ryeowook’s bedside table. “Oh shoot, I almost forgot my part-time job. I’m gonna be late for it. It’s your fault for being such a distraction.”

“My fault?!?! You’re the one who barged in here and disturbing me!!!” Ryeowook could feel his blood boiling again.

Yesung ignored Ryeowook’s words. “Oh well, I forgive you since you’re such a beautiful distraction.” He caressed Ryeowook’s cheek and landed a kiss at the corner of Ryeowook’s lips before leaving the room and climbing back to window.

Ryeowook wondered why Yesung had to kiss him. They agreed to only act as a couple in front of the students or the possibility of students from their school seeing them in another place. But for Yesung to kiss him in his own room, there was definitely no reason for it. He’s also annoyed with himself again because his heart reacted the same way earlier that day when Yesung kissed him at school.

To be continued…

A/N: The atmosphere in the house while writing this chapter is not good and it took me some time because I can’t concentrate but I’m glad I’m still able to finish this chapter just fine.
