Lovely! I particularly like Methos doing for Amanda what he'd done for Rebecca as I always felt the ROG and Rebecca had a history.

I think the way you have the 2 stories unfolding side by side is a nice touch too, and yay Joe for upholding immortal privacy.

[Laughs] it's my own personal fanon that Rebecca and Methos have HISTORY! It has absolutely no basis in canon, of course, but the idea is too pretty to let go of.

Hard lesson, but necessary.

[Nods] And not a pretty lesson, either, but it's a mindset an Immortal needs to learn. I remember Richie wrestling with it, in the original series, and thought it was interesting storyline that they could have done more with.

very lovely. I like that Methos agrees to help Amanda in this. I also like the interconnection between her training and Nick's. And good on Joe for not reporting all the details.

The final exam...it is interesting how much trust each of the characters have to hold in each other to go through this ritual. Rebecca trusts her student with Methos, Amanda does the same. Remarkably, they all seem to trust Joe with key pieces of information in the tale, even Nick (if grudgingly.)

Even Immortals need rites of passage...

[Grins] Well, Joe just seems to have one of those trustworthy faces :-P

Also, I kind of took my cue from the Raven episode, in which Amanda asks Joe to lie to Nick for her, and say she was dead. It was a pretty big lie, yet he did it for her - and, more importantly, Amanda trusted him to do it.

Trust is a tricky thing among Immortals, but I think there is a certain amount of it between Amanda and Methos, especially towards the end of the series.

I thought, at first, that Joe's part in this story might be a little too elliptical, as I didn't actually spell anything out, but I think it works better this way, as this would be how Joe experienced the events, as an observer.

*nice icon* Joe gets more action with Amanda in that Raven episode than he does in 70 odd episodes in the series *g*.

I like the elliptical nature of the story--it helps to maintain the 'what's going to happen' tension in the present, while satisfying the curiosity about Amanda and Methos' history in the past.
