Original Short Story: Between the Fountain and the Gate.

Written for a prompt given at merry_fates, in which I'm supposed to use a painting. La Belle Dame Sans Merci, by Frank Cadogan Cowper, as an inspiration - I hope it fits, guys!

Hee! Glad you liked it - it was weird writing a creepy protagonist!

I don't really have words for that, so I'll just have to bow at the screen.

Damn, I will NEVER look at that painting the same again. :O

{Laughs] I always thought it was a rather scary painting to begin with, which probably coloured my judgement when I wrote this! (I am rather fond of my Death, however, I may use him again :-P)

This was fantastic. Wonderfully vivid, beautiful tone. I love how you don't give away too much and let us figure it out for ourselves.

Thank you! I was a bit worried about writing such a creepy, self centered protagonist, but it seemed to work with the story :-)

I really enjoyed the images in this, and the concept. Also, Death = very cool. I'm enamored with the fountain scene. Plus, I like nasty MCs.
