Ahaha, this is awesome! And I love that you incorporated 'Gallifrey' canon! The banter! Many MANY lines had me squeaking with glee. Frankenstein! Ftw. :D And yeah, it's totally canon in my brain that he took her for about ten MILLION side trips before returning her to Gallifrey. :D

Seriously, my head canon places Shada pre Neverland and Zagreus mostly because I believe that before those two he was in the habit of taking her off all on holidays/adventures whenever he fancied. And a lot of the time she'd say yes. :D

These lines I loved:

"I’m looking for our contingency plan," he explained, smiling wryly at her as she bit the head off the sweet.

"A contingency plan, in your pocket?" Mary asked.

He looked at her with round eyes and, for a moment, Romana was strongly reminded of a certain previous incarnation. "But of course," he said. "Where else should I put it?"

So very Eight!!

"I’m sure Narvin would be very upset about the vampire outbreak and will thank us profusely for clearing it up."

Romana threw him a look. "And afterwards we shall have tea and crumpets, and Narvin will tell me what a splendid job I’ve been doing as Lady President," she drawled.

Sarcastic Romana FTW!!

(I watched "The Ribos Operation" for the first time in forever yesterday. Sarky!Romana was so sarky! *giggles*)

K-9 was in fact originally made by a 50th Century human inventor, and Four and Leela took him when his owner died. Since then, the Doctor has made copies (and maybe few ungrades) but during the Forth Doctor's reign, Romana spent as much time tinkering with his insides as the Doctor and, as K-9 and Romana had been together for years at this point....

Well I knew that the original K-9 wasn't built by Four - I've seen "The Invisible Enemy" - but I assumed, since the Gallifrey audios feature K-9 Mark I and II, that Four had built the second K-9 unit...

it's not really adressed in the programme. Leela leaves (minus K-9) and then the Doctor gets in his TARDIS and k-9 is still there. Then, the white guardian appears and the Doctor goes out to talk to him, When he comes back, there is Romana! Leela having a K-9 seems to be an audio thing.

But it's all conjecture, really, and I just assumed that at this stage, Romana's K-9 is Romana's K-9, and only she goes fiddling with the insides!

I loved this. Your Doctor/Romana banter was just perfect, and Mary Shelley getting the idea for Frankenstein from the Doctor had me laughing out loud.
