*whew* LJ is doing that thing where it inserts posts into your friends-page after you have read past that point, so I missed the initial emergency and had to backtrack. I am glad Mr. Hexy seems to be recovering from his adventure.

I never thought to see an axolotl in a hand-blown glass, but Hachiko certainly becomes it.

I've noticed LJ acting up, too. Annoying.

Hopefully future axolotl intrepidity can be restricted to cutely exploring the cosmos in hand-blown glass!

Wow a hand-blown glass playpen!

In the fridge, like, raw, like, just HIM, or in some kind of water?

In water! They don't stop being aquatic. :) But apparently they are pretty healthy when it's cold (being from mountain lakes and all) and any fungus won't be able to grow well, so they can fight it off better.

Interesting! But they still do well in a warmer tank, most of the time, it sounds like?

I am glad he seems to be recovering well.

There seems to be a roughly linear relationship between heat and pathogen vulnerability, so in hotter climates tank chillers are common. Usually Seattle room temps stay acceptable, but I did have a fan blowing across the water surface for evaporative cooling some days last year.

That blown glass does look like magic underwater weeds.
