Hmm... today, I do believe I will March Forth~ to the Library and see if there are any books available on alternate methods to obtaining immortality.  Though, I wonder if that method would work...  It's worth ( Read more... )

You have half siblings as well? Such a very large family you have...

Very clever, Ling-san...you seek immortality?

Many of them, actually. It's tradition in Xing for the Emperor to have a child with one woman from each clan.

And yes, yes I do. Or at the very least, a hint towards it. Even returning with something that appears similar would be enough.

...Immortality? Is such a thing possible in this world?

Whether it is or not, I'm not giving up my search.

The fourth of March? I'm fairly certain that that's my sister Mei's birthday. Perhaps it's the same for you?

Immortality? Why would you be searching for something like that? Sounds rather boring to me.

Oh yeah, Mei! That was her name. She's from the Chan clan, if I remember right.

Simple, really. If I bring the secret of immortality back to Xing, I'll increase the Yao clan's standing in the Emperor's eyes, and I'll become the heir to the throne.

I'm rather surprised that you'd forget your own sister's birthday, even if you did remember the date.

That makes sense, but I still think being immortal would be a very boring experience.

Well, our only real relation is that we're both the children of the Emperor. We were each raised according to our mothers' clans' customs, and we're extremely different. I've only met her a couple of times in my life, actually.

Perhaps, but I still have to at least look, for the sake of my clan's future. And it doesn't have to even be actual immortality, just a promising lead towards it.

Because the Emperor of Xing is dying, and if I bring back something that at least resembles the secret to immortality (and closer is probably better), the standing of the Yao clan will increase in his eyes, and I'll be named the promenant heir to the throne.

So you want to find immortality, or something leading to it, for political power?

...

Are you certain that is what will happen?

Whether that happens or not, I still have to try. Too many people have made too many sacrifices for me to just give up.
