The interview with Scott Evans was interesting, too -- I had no idea he had a younger brother in the soaps! And it sure never occurred to me that having a character come out as gay on a soap would positively affect many, many people. It's been a long time since I was home in the daytime. :)
I wouldn't have thought the soap opera thing would have been important either, but then I remembered something Nichelle Nicols said: That MLK told her that she was a role model for black women everywhere and that little black girls turned on the tv and saw a black woman who wasn't a maid or a prostitute when they saw her on Star Trek. So maybe it really IS something to turn on the tv and see a gay person who isn't a sexual predator or evil or whatever stereotypes middle America holds. Cool boys, those Evans kids.
