For me you could skip the ginger, and when you say that, I just realized that was what was in the pumpkin cookies I didn't like last week, but I love nutmeg. I don't like allspice or cloves, which is why I don't eat pumpkin pie.

That's part of the self-deprivation (as opposed to the self-depravity): singing like you're drinking, but you can't drink.But it's another example of the move toward the shiny, the trendy, the mass-market-strip-mall-cookie-cutter-suburbia sort of hell that is infesting this country. Let's remove all appropriate character from *everything* and then we don't have to think about it, be challenged by it, acknowledge it.
