I finally got a new MP3 player, so now I can start the Spring of Bowie in earnest! I'd say "David Bowie Month", but that's never how it works. "Beatles Month" went on for like half a year, "Depeche Mode Month" is on day 51, and kind of morphed into Dave Gahan Solo Record Week (and threatened to expand into I Still Really Need To Listen To Black

I have no idea what "John, I'm Only Dancing" is about either, come to think of it.

"Ashes to Ashes" is one of my favorites, too, as is "Aladdin Sane." The former is a sequel of sorts to "Space Oddity." And "Stay" is a great sexy seduction song.

And I forgot to say, given that "China Girl" is supposed to be critical of Westernization, I wouldn't think it would be offensive, then or now.
