If your code is clean and you named your source files logically, you can update the website 4 years later as easily as you could have when you were first developing it.
I just restored and updated a website that was pushing five years old, where the coding was the easiest job. Most of my time was spend updating the images, with submitting helpdesk tickets trying to tell Godaddy that their feedback form script doesn't work coming in a close second.
Alas, I'm a dinosaur, and code in the modern internet just doesn't work my way any more.
