New Books

Lots of friends with new books out this week. Because apparently I don’t have enough to read already? At this rate, I’m never going to reach the summit of Mount To Be Read!

Morgan Keyes’ Darkbeast Rebellion [Amazon | B&N | Mysterious Galaxy] is a middle-grade fantasy, the follow-up to Darkbeast, which I enjoyed and reviewed here.

Martha Wells has a ( Read more... )

I have my Morgan Keyes book--I loved the first one! Tamora Pierce has a book out this week too, BATTLE MAGIC (from her YA Circle of Magic series).

Battle Magic, by Tamora Pierce, dropped yesterday. I finished it over lunch so that I would have mental digestion time before Shadows, by Robin McKinley, drops tomorrow.

The summit of Mount to Be Read appears to be receeding before me! Friends and family keep pointing out whole new series that I've never touched. I've got everything from Adiamante to Spellwright still on that stack.

Shadows should reach my doorstep in the next day or two. It is an embarrassment of riches. How am I going to get my own writing done when I have all this reading?

I feel your pain. I think, if I won the lottery today, and therefore never needed for money again, and I quit the day job and took up reading as a full time activity, I'm not certain I would get through every book in my To Be Read skyscraper. (Wow. That was either a run on sentence, or some other vile sin against grammar. Oy.)

Just this once, I think we can forgive your sin :-)

I think if that happened, part of the winnings would have to be invested in longevity treatments so you'd have more time to read. And/or speedreading classes.

A book called Seven Forges just came out from Angry Robot. It's by a guy names James A. Moore whom I've never heard of, which is apparently because he's only written horror (and a Buffy novel) up to now and I don't read that genre except for 19th century ghost stories. I really like Seven Forges though, to a surprising extent in some ways. It's one of those gritty epic fantasy novels where all the viewpoint characters are male fighters (except for the male wizard), but I started it on Monday and am on page 278 and still going strong and liking it ( ... )

Hey, you're welcome, I am really enjoying reading it! I got distracted by the new Robin McKinley, so I am not done yet, but I am assuming there is going to be a sequel. Do you know the title and release date yet? I keep a list on my computer so I can make sure I order them at work (bookstore) and acquire one for myself.

The next book is tentatively called THE CHOSEN and I believe it's due out Next May. I'm actually writing it right now. :)
