I agree! Very good book. I loved how the narrator broke the fourth wall like a storyteller would. It was perfect.

I also really enjoyed the book. I felt that the authentic feel of the African folk tale added a lot to the story, but I liked how the author was not restricted by the form, and took modern liberties.

One of my favorite moments in the book is when the djombi threatens to harm Paama’s family unless she returns the Chaos Stick … so she immediately hands it over. It’s instinctive. She doesn’t crave power, and she refuses to risk her loved ones over some ridiculous need to maintain face or appear defiant.

If this was the only part of your review I'd read, it still would be enough to sell me on getting this book. Thanks very much for the review
