First Book Friday: Mindy Klasky

Welcome to First Book Friday!

A long time ago, on an internet far, far away, there was an online writing bulletin board called the Rumor Mill. A young writer named Jim used to visit every day, learning about manuscript format and markets and writing scams. One of the people he encountered was a writer named Mindy Klasky (mindyklasky on LJ).

"About halfway through the first act, I was pummeled with a brutal realization."

I gasped out loud when I read this! That second act must have been the longest theater-going experience of your life.

It *was* - and the play was one where they *showed* you the murderer in the first act, so there wasn't even any suspense in finding out who the bad guy was :-)

I love all of Mindy's books (and even own all 5 of the Glasswright series in actual paper form). She was one of the first authors I reached out to (i.e.--stalked) when I started getting serious about my writing career, and has always been one of the most supportive.

So not just a great author, but a pretty cool person as well. And the books rock. Run out and get them. No, really...I'll wait.

That's a helluva story, Mindy. Josh Palmatier reviewed your Glasswrights books, and because of that I've been keeping my eye out for them.

::grin:: I have Mr. Palmetier's books in my to be read pile... If only I could create extra time somehow!

Oh, how I laughed at this one (I'm sorry!). I hope your agent learned to be more careful about the date in the future. :)

I wonder, sometimes, how many other first offers come in on 4/1 each year! Glad that I gave you a laugh ;-)
