So, I finally got an e-reader today. After getting Janis a Nook Color for her birthday, I found it intriguing enough to take the plunge and get my own... still wasn't sure I would really be into it, but at this point I'll never really know without actually spending some time with one, so, wtf, went ahead and got one

Mostly this just means I look for .epubs before using the store. Especially since I prefer to back my own shit up instead of just assuming B&N will be around forever / won't screw up / etc, and with .epubs, I can manage them myself; with "Nookbooks" you're at B&N's mercy.
Note: B&N's mercy is more tender than Amazon's, which is one of several reasons I got a Nook instead of a Kindle. Either way, though, DRM pisses me off. I'll REALLY be happy when "rippers" start appearing for the Nookbooks and Kindlebooks, so I can legally buy the content and then get the hell rid of the DRM that annoys me so much. (Or, better yet, when the industry relaxes and just starts selling .epubs for everything to begin with, like how Amazon just sells plain MP3s now.)
