They all had the long tailed suits, not just Danny, and they were all ridiculous. Steve's tie looked mangled. 007's tie looked spectacular in my opinion. And Danny's tie kinda reminded me of the opulence oh his golden locks ;-)
Honestly, I feel a ficlet coming on. I was looking at Steve's tie thinking 'What the fuck is that knot?' He's going to beat Danny with a canape when he looks in a mirror.
ROTFL!!! I couldn't decide if the writers were all seriously serious or were aware of the absurdity within the episode and just decided to go with it! Either way, I was laughing at various parts in the show - and then the ending!! LOLOLOLOL!!!!
Though they couldn't have gotten a better lookalike for her majesty? Even viewed from the back only, I was NOT convinced!! :D
EDIT: Oh, and there is the little fact that the George Cross is solely for British or commonwealth citizens... but let's not worry about the too much!! :D :D :D :D
I can't tell a lie the jingoistic elements are so apparent, and do make me uncomfortable, I want the writers to balance that tendency with an internal domestic terrorism story line. But given how they think Europe works, that a 40 year old SAS/MI6 would say bloody, the Queen.... I think that type of storytelling is outside their skill set. BUT I don't watch H50 for insightful pieces and social commentary. I can access that material elsewhere.
I'll stick with the crack -- 'cos that was cracky, and, yes, I also can't tell if they were serious or no.
*ponders*
Writers’ workshop “”Let’s hack all the Nuclear Power Stations in Europe with a USB stick, cos they all have the same operating system.”
I didn't like the jingoism either. It's so very old now that the brown, or middle eastern or eastern European person will be the terrorist. I see a brown or European person at a lap top and I know what's coming. How about some of the religious whack-jobs that terrorise women's clinics? No, that might be offensive.
I complained about NCIS: LA about that when it first started, but it has brought in other forms of terrorists/bad guys - and has even had the middle eastern character as the good guy before now. Maybe H5O needs to learn from them?
(That said, most Russians in NCIS: LA seem to be up to no good most of the time, soo...)

“Yeah, Boss. That’s realistic.”
Obviously serious.
