I am what one might consider an emotional pack rat. For example, when I connect a song with someone and we agree on it (especially a girlfriend), that more or less becomes Our Song and years later, I can still listen to it as Ours. This same idea applies more broadly to just about anything mutually attached like that

I don't see it as being a jerk. I see it as closure. Otherwise those wounds are just going to keep ripping open all over again.
