Went to see above show last nite and had a truly horrific experience - not cos of the show [living in Brighton prepares you for that kind of shit any day of the week] but because someone whom I thought was a friend turned their back on me [literally and metaphorically] as I walked in and sat down [my ticket was seat next to them] and then pointedly

Indeed. The person and their partner HAVE now been in touch, following brief conversation today, to tell me that "any friendship we had is over despite [their] attempts to distance [then]selves from [my] neediness" [which frankly, doesn't make sense grammatically; should be "after" instead of "despite" but I'm just being a pissed off pedant of course
