Calling all Weissbluths

Ok. So I'm working on cam' sleep, and its a bit of a conundrum.
Good news...he slept thru the night last night.
Bad news...I'm struggling with his naps.
He wakes up anytime between 6-730am. Then goes down for a 2-hour nap between 930-1000.
BUT he hasn't taken a second nap for a week. I try everyday around 2-3pm, but he's not having it.
So off to bed ( Read more... )

I think Anya went to one nap around a year but it was a good long 3 hour nap.

I do think it's awesome he's sleeping thru the night. I guess I would not sweat it too much if he's sleeping at night, which for me, is the main thing!

That is odd. You're right.

I'm not sure what to suggest other than trying to slowly move his nap out to the afternoon. Then as it shifts to the afternoon, he will be able to stay up a little later and thus helping him sleep in longer.

I'm sure you've already thought of that idea - but that's the only suggestion I have.

Sorry!!! Sleep is so tough with kids. You have no idea how bad the issue really is until you have children. I'm planning to write a book called "all the things people don't tell you before having kids". Haha!!!! It would obviously be a series, bc it's an ongoing process around here. Hehe

That's what I was thinking...but is he too young to give up hope on the 2nd nap?? I'm worried it's just some weird phase that he'll grow out of. And he is totally ready for his morning nap as it is.

The weirdest thing is that he is my first child to actually sleep better when he is totally exhausted. It worked the other way for my other two.

I think if he keeps this up for another week, then I'll just transition to one nap per day. 5:30 bedtime is rough, especially during the summer. The boys aren't even done with swim until 6pm.

Cam is my most difficult and most stubborn for sure!

I'm with you there! Afternoon nap is a struggle. Cait will go down, but she will play and whine for up to an hour before falling asleep.
I am toying with the idea of pushing one nap, too. I do remember with the boys there was probably a 3-4 months transition stage from two to 1 nap. They would take 2 naps some days and 1 on others. Maybe you could try to do 1 nap every 2-3 days and push for 2 naps on the other days.
It's so hard to tell.
