I'm sorry, I have nothing interesting to talk about, so it's time for a random poll. Not really that random, as it applies mostly to the type of music I'm subjected to at work all day. I have legitimate concerns about some of these artists and their appeal. Some of them may have strong fan bases (or used to), and constantly try to "re-launch" their ( Read more... )

Here's the thing about Carlos Santana. He is an extremely talented guitarist and Abraxas is one of the great albums. As a matter of fact, it was one of the first albums I ever owned back in, ah, *cough1969cough*.

Unfortunately, instead of staying a niche player and sessionman, he decided in the last few years that he needs to collaborate with everyone and his brother and it has watered down the quality of his material.

Yes, that is exactly the problem I think he's got...on his absolute own, he's obviously very talented, but then in the past handful of years, he's been collaborating with everyone (some more than once) and he then ends up sounding the SAME on each track, and it gets redundant and boring! And then the radio like plays up all these "Santana" songs that are really just more of the same junk everyone else is doing. BOOOORING!

You could have used an option somewhere between "Meh" and "Love it!"

Cheese is a thing of the past for moi.

I know...I couldn't think of anything to say for something between those. I needed another option, or a "fill-in-the-blank" one, methinks!
