This Show Could Save Your Life...

In light of the Minnesota bridge collapse tragedy, all the local media outlets are discussing what could happen here in Seattle, or really anywhere on/surrounded by water or with bridges, etc. Forgetting for a moment the hows, whens, whys, or where something like this could happen, it's important to know what to do if it does happen, no matter who ( Read more... )

I think I saw the episode you're talking about here. It is quiet unbelievable that a so called expert would have nothing to offer listeners.

And some chick over at Colin's MB was whining that all anyone was talking about was the bridge collapsing, and they might not show an interview with Drew Carey tonight.

We're surrounded by idiots, I've decided.

I'd wait for Orlando Bloom to come rescue me! ^_^

Oh my, people really have fallen off their rockers. Do they not realize sometimes things happen and there are more important issues than an interview with Drew Carey (which I'm sure they'll air another time)? Ugh...I think we need inflatable bats to hit people (gently, but firmly) with that kind of nonsense.

Well, given that the person in question is exceptionally stupid, a real bat might work better. (did I really just say that?) She has a very long record of being rude and insensitive.

This is what she posted on Colin's message board:

Yeah well I hope they really do interview Drew and not stop anything just because a bridge collapsed.

She got soundly spanked for it too.

Good good! She should be taken out behind the woodshed! Sheesh! What if it had affected HER family?

Hi THE Jill,

Now that was an EXCELLENT episode of Mythbusters! For me though, I also need to be worried about the 'swimming' portion too --;. I almost drowned in the middle school pool learning how to tread water.

Hey, did they ever have an episode where they explain how to get out of a car that's going underwater and on fire as well?

That's true, the swimming issue could be a problem. Although if there's enough stuff floating about, if someone could at least escape and surface, they could take hold of or backfloat until someone spots them. I suppose with collapsed debris all around, it could be difficult to hang tight, but at least getting out of the car would be a start. So many issues could linger, though!

Hrm, I don't think they addressed engulfed and sinking cars on MythBusters, though! I bet it's worth suggesting, given they do sometimes re-hash past myths and such if enough fans ask for it! Given this situation, perhaps they will. I hope so!

I definitely feel better about being a "Science Show Junkie" now, that is for sure!

I think the name of the no-nothing mumblemouth in question was Jamie Quick. That was the first name I heard in that particular hour, but I could be wrong.

Personally, I'm just glad that someone else is listening to 710-KIRO for something other than the Seahawks games. By the way, if you want to hear Frank in his normal spot when Dori Monson comes back from vacation, he has the 9:00pm to 1:00am shift.

Ahhhh, so you heard that as well. I couldn't believe how numb-brained the guy was. Way to make people feel better about their day! I sure hope we don't have any large earthquakes/bridge failures when that guy's in charge.

I tend to hear KIRO stuff on the way to and from work (and lunch); I carpool with my Dad/Boss, and he has it on much of the time. Dori Monson has some pretty interesting topics, although I don't always agree with his viewpoints. Hearing Ron Reagan is pretty fascinating as well, given he has some political insight most of us will never know.

I was just glad that Frank tried to get in there and get the guy's opinion, and I could tell he was a bit shocked he wasn't getting anywhere.

^_^

Oh, and I just added you back! I saw Mr. Glitch in your icon there, and the fact we have LJ friends in common, not to mention living in the same area, and that pretty much adds up to coolness. Welcome! ^_^
