While Hussein does deserve punishment, I must say that I remain morally opposed to sentences of death.

He may well be the hardest strain to this belief yet, but even so.

I don't know, being the horrible "terrorist" he's been, I don't see any reason to be merciful on him in particular. Although it doesn't really matter at this end, it's his "Judgment Day" that ought to prove interesting. I don't think he'll find God's terribly happy with him. @_@

Oh indeed, i just don't believe that not killing him is being merciful. I feel that governmental bodies choosing who lives and who dies cheapens the value of lives that are taken in violence and hatred.

"An eye for an eye" is not a sustainable claim for people, let alone a whole society.

And the harshest punishment for the harshest crime can be supported, but is death the harshest punishment, or indeed does it need to be?

Not arguing at you, just presenting/suggesting alternatives.

True true. Although he got his, for sure, I'm thinking it might have been more "rewarding" to torture him, say, emotionally, for the rest of his life. Ah well.
