Aller-GEEZUS!

Oy, now I have even more reasons than ever to hate allergy season. And how sad that I even need to complain. Today's experience at the drug store has brought this to the front burner, however, so I apologize. Bear with me, or skip reading, whatever works. I just need to get this off my chest (literally). @_ ( Read more... )

brain dump, annoyances, big brother is watching you!, the airing of grievances, allergies, ramble ramble ramble..., drugs are good

I know Illinois has limitations on pseudoephedine, but I never knew why until I went to Michigan. There they have strict controls, require ID, all that stuff, and they explain why.

I know that at McKinley I am limited to getting the Sudafed cold product twice a semester (used to be every 15 days) because of those regulations. (Some stuff I can still get every 15 days, like condoms and throat lozenges, but I think even the Wound Pakcs are now twice a semester items.)

It's just as bad if not worse here in Michgian. And you're not the only sufferer Jill. This is my bad season too. I'm allergic to ALL pollen and I've only been lucky these past few days because the rains have kept the pollen counts down.

But I can't even afford to buy one box of Claritin....let alone two. :( I usually have to deal with the sudefed knockoffs or dayquil type medications.

Yeah, it's insane the cost of meds, just to feel normal...and when the cheaper stuff really does nothing, it's like...either take what you need when you need it, or get sick because the allergies are out of control (which is why I had the prescriptions to begin with, only to have it go OTC...I can't win).

wow, that sounds insane! could you maybe ask your doctor (or allergist?) if there's some sort of prescription or pass or something you could get in order to be able to get all the meds you need?

i've been lucky and not really had any allergy problems in 6-7 years or so (after 7 years of allergy shots as a kid!) but this spring has been pretty brutal. my nose is almost constantly dried out and i find myself coughing quite a bit. i probably should look into getting some medication for it but i don't think i'd know where to start anymore. (and i don't know if ohio has any similar laws either)

I think I was born allergic, LOL. I remember the first 12 years or so of my life I had shots every week, and they did help, but it wasn't exactly fun. Then I got my tonsils out when I was 12, which helped some of them, but then I'd still get sinus infections and so on, and it's just crazy how much I have to do to keep up with it all. @_@ That's why it would be so much easier to have a cheap, accessible cure-all without going through all this trouble/cost! @_@

The current law in Wyoming is no more than 3.6 grams per visit and no more than 9 grams per month.

I'm sorry you're in such a pickle, but I'd rather have to go through the headache than have to deal with meth addicts. Meth is just about the worst drug out there. Moms start using it and forget about their kids.

Ahhhh, okay, I knew you'd understand the rules through your job, so I'm glad to make some sense of it. I know they're trying to keep the stuff out of the hands of the problem druggies, but wow is it a pain, and I'm sure even moreso for you guys, who have to document everything! @_@

I was at a luncheon today that was supporting a center where drug-affected babies are treated, and they gave some good speeches about the dangers and reality of Meth...I knew it was bad, and in Washington, the WORST of them going on, at a growing rate. So, I can respect the efforts, because it is VERY dangerous, but wow, for us legit allergy-heads, it makes it so non-fun to have to jump through hoops!

Hi THE Jill,

I'm not sure how much one or a household is allowed to buy per month, but ALL the pharmacies here only allow an individual to buy one box at a time via the slip of paper through the pharmacist. Rasumfracksum druggies making the lives of normal people more tedious >8(! Soon, everything will be monitored because of them O~O!

In my case, I can't take pseudoephedrine anymore unless absolutely necessary. It makes my blood pressure go up, so my doctor told me to avoid it as much as possible. I'm currently using a steroid nasal inhaler to control the mucus when it gets too bad.

...let's focus on medicine instead of oil for a bit here...

A lot of medicine, and actually the entire medical equipment industry, still uses petrochemicals, so they are still tied together ^^;.

I have a nasal spray too, plus two inhalers for asthma (one as needed, one daily), and also take Singulair, which is supposedly meant to work for allergies (but I take for asthma), but I don't see it helping that at all. So, I end up taking so much junk - and it adds up. Bah! It's nice to be in the company of those who definitely get it and go through similar "med-head" issues, though. Although it seems like more people are becoming allergic all the time, even those who never had a problem before.

The world is going crazier by the day! :@ P
