I've recently discovered the joys of RSS feeds, thanks to a nifty little Firefox plugin that aggregates them for me and puts them in a little sidebar on my web browser. Is a good thing.

one of the perpetual problems in our library in general is getting people to participate in this kind of thing...if you can solve this, let me know. (actually, uiuc has documentation on the web site for some things, but it doesn't get revised often enough and too much is not documented...

the biggest problem with wikis is spammers. without an active community who feels they're responsible for the wiki, it's a bitch to clean up. and if one closes the wiki to random comers from everywhere, then it loses a lot of its wiki-nature.
intranet wikis are still useful though. and it sounds like that's what you have in mind.
