If they were green, the seeds were unripe and are unlikely to sprout.
However, for future reference, green tomato slices, breaded and fried have been on farmers' menus forever; they have an interesting tomatillo flavor. There's also a green-tomato relish (that I've never much liked).
There are almost always green tomatoes on the vine when the first frost hits. If they have reached the right stage of development, the whole vine can be hung up in a frost-free spot until they ripen, or they can be wrapped in paper to ripen individually-not as good as vine-ripened, but better than grocery-store ripened.
