A new part! I liked this. I like the idea of a feisty ten-year-old Rose defending herself against a gang of bullies. That seems to transcend her age. But I also like that you went on to show her with Jimmy, and how there were occasions in her life that made her doubt herself, where she needed more encouragement, a push to dare to ask for what she deserves. I like the idea you have here of the Doctor going back and learning more about her in-between those two times he asked her to come along with him. I haven't read a story that has gone that way before. It makes sense why he seemed to think he knew so much about her in the next couple episodes though. I also love the little things. Like the Doctor dubbing Jimmy, "Timmy." I actually laughed aloud when I read that! I look forward to reading the next part. And thanks for feeding my Nine fix.

I'm glad you liked this! I imagine Rose being a sweet kinda shy kid who, as she grows, becomes a bit more outspoken but stays sweet. She becomes more silly and eventually goes through a bout of recklessness but learns her lesson after it. If any of that makes sense lol. Anyway, that's how I took the Jimmy situation to mean - exactly how you mentioned it, a time where she didn't see other options and because of it, she just went with it. After him, she just sorta, settled. Don't get me wrong, I do like Mickey (after he grows into his own person, mind you), but he was safe-ish.

I hadn't really noticed, to tell you the truth, that other stories only went forwards in time. Perhaps it did sneak itself into my subconscious because I really do love the idea of him going back in time to see her.

And oh, Timmy. lol I loved that and laugh each time I reread it to proof it. As for your Nine fix - anytime. I love that man. lol.

This is a really nice update that is a new take on an often written about scene - just where did the Doctor go? I like that it's guided by Rose's innocent actions pre-Doctor. I love that he's shocked and upset by her snogging Jimmy :D

Yes, I definitely wanted to start off with getting to know Rose a little before she became our Rose. I said it on another reply, but there is some forwards in time - but I needed some past Rose to get a good grip on what comes after.

And yeah lol Nine shocked and really angry (sexy!) at Rose snogging Timmy...err...Jimmy and getting even more upset because she didn't yell at him = priceless :D

oooh, like it. nice to see a different take on this as most people seem to go for the "he went forward in time, then came back and asked again" route. Looking forward to seeing what else you do with this

Yeah, it sort of gave me the idea. Don't get me wrong, there is some forwards in time (oops, did I just say that? heh), but to really understand Rose or at least get an inkling of her, you need to see a bit of her in the past at least. That's why I called this moments because he sees glimpses of what has been (and will be).

I'm loving reading this again. Its nice to see Rose as a child and teenager. Love the Doctor's reaction to her kissing Jimmy. Even then he already loves her just doesn't know it. Sadly he can't intervene though because this is part of what makes his girl Rose Tyler.

Yup! I normally don't respond to my comments as quickly, but I wanted to tell you that my next chapter (3) is one completely new from the fanfiction.net story. I wanted something else from Rose's past in this story :) You know, before going on to her future.

And jealous Doctor always great. Jealous Nine? Heavenly. heh.
