Will the toxin wear off for Clark? Or will he need Bruce's help to get over the fear?
*bites nails nervously*
You will update again very, very soon, right?
*gives jen big sad puppy dog eyes*
Please?
And, just so you know, giving Clark fear of both heights and dark is brilliant hurt/comfort when he's in a relationship with a nocturnal bat who lives dark, gloomy Gotham.
I mean Superman afraid to fly and afraid of Bruce's town? Yikes...
All joking aside, I hope you can update again very, very soon.

I think the toxin has "technically" worn off--that is, he's not afraid of the dark anymore and he can fly all right (although having lingering effects is a great idea! *makes notes* Kryptonian biology being different from human is so useful sometimes!) But the psychological after-effects of the night are definitely staying with him, and it'll take time and maybe more to get over it...
I'm almost done the next chapter and I have a block of time set aside to write today, so it shouldn't be too long until the next update! *hugs* Eee, thanks so much for the comment! *dances*

I can't stand waiting to see what's going to happen next.

You're exactly write about Clark's unease about Gotham crystallizing into something more intense in this chapter! He's having a hard time getting over the lingering effects of what he experienced...he loves Bruce but would rather steer clear of his city as much as possible right now.
Thanks so much for the comment! *runs off to write some more of the next chapter*

Poor dear. I hope he spills the beans to Bruce and can get this fixed. :)
What a wonderful chapter, Jen! I love the way you described the fears buildings up in Clark. *shivers* And you wrote Bruce's frantic dash to save him so well, too!
Batman's rogues are the best! He's got the crazy Joker, plant-nutty Ivy, clever Riddler, sinuous Catwoman, amusing Penguin, and the deadly Scarecrow with his fears!

And Batman's rogues are without a doubt the finest of any character's. I have a soft spot for Flash's, but it's a totally different kind of thing...

"This suit is uncomfortably tight under...certain circumstances."
This is the real reason in canon when Batman gets pissed off that Superman is in Gotham. *g*
"It's too real for you to hear," Kal said like a wind over stone, empty.
Oh. That's a great line.
And now, Clark's fear of Gotham has form and that spells trouble for his relationship with Bruce. I just hope it's not too much.
Excellent chapter!

I know...I really wanted to linger on that a lot more, especially the voice part! Oh, super-ventriloquism, you are the win...

I so want to believe that. ;)

I plan to leave them both broken husks of--wait, who am I kidding, it was hard enough to write this chapter, I'm unlikely to draw it out too much. :) *hugs* Thank you so much for commenting!
