Freudian Slips...

Jul 12, 2007 22:35

In my debate class the students are debating on one of two topics:  "Smoking Bans" or "Baby Post" (the name for a system for anonymous abandonment of infants).  I was dividing up the class and putting the first letter of their topic in front of their names...then looked down and realized I had, as a result, written S, B, S, B, S, B all down my ( Read more... )

Hee Hee: You're such a fangirl... If you started squeeing... I would want evidence. :D

Give hubby a hug from me. :)

Emme: ho hum, back to class...

I didn't squee! I was too embarrassed! I wasn't sure for a second if my subconscious was playing games with me... :)

Good luck with the boring classes! I only have one more before the weekend--a three-day weekend here! Yay!

*snuggles you*

I'll endeavor to strong arm a muse or two to behave later on, because you need prezzies.

It's Blake's 7, and I hope it feels right...far too long since I saw it.

*flails* Thank you so much! Honestly, this week has been more tedious than stressful...but I'll be really glad to have it done. *sighs*

Does Japan have smoking bans? I always thought it was just an American thing.

I mean, I approve of smoking bans, but they probably look crazy to, say, France.

When we first came here, about eight years ago, there were sometimes "No smoking" areas--and by "areas" I mean a few tables right next to the smoking tables.

But smoking restrictions have caught on--the specific one we're debating is that my city just banned smoking in all taxis. So it seems to be catching on...

interesting. there are pros and cons to both sides. freedom vs safety it's an old argument. it's a shame that the world seems incapable of adhering to gentlemanly agreements anymore and simply saying "we'll agree not to smoke in areas it could cause a problem to others out of courtesy. and we'll agree not to complain that other people are smoking."

Ah, courtesy. Japan has this odd community dynamic which comes from being a nation of basically shy people forced to live crammed together...in public everyone mostly just kind of pretends no one else is there. People shove and push, if you drop things people will rarely help you, no one apologizes...all in part because you just kind of hope no one will notice anyone else at all and you can all pretend you're not SURROUNDED BY PEOPLE ALL THE TIME! So without bans people would tend to smoke wherever, I'm sure. :)

LOL, Jen! When I first scanned this post, I thought you said that you had written S, B, S, B, S, B, but with little hearts between the S's and B's. Although even without the hearts, that's awesome! It was a secret code that only fandom could understand! *grin*

Ack, but you and DaMo sound like you're being put through the wringer! *sends the best of vibes your way*

Now THAT would have been a Freudian slip! :)

Well, we survived the week, and now we can mostly relax on the weeke--wtf? A category 4 typhoon is going to make landfall this weekend? Noooooo...

What??? A typhoon?! Oh no! *bites nails* I don't know how bad category 4 is (is the scale for typhoons similar to the one for hurricanes?). I'm guessing Japan weathers these things well since you must get a lot of them, but it still sounds stressful. I hope you guys are okay and that you ... don't lose your roof or end up transported to Oz!

Yay! It dodged us and we just got some heavy winds...knocked over all of my struggling sunflowers, but no serious damage. :) We still have a roof!
