The thing about the past is that we all have one...

The souls of all living things are trapped in an eternal spiral, hoping to find the eternal purity and rest, and ultimately, an escape from the pain of the mortal world. The souls of each person and creature that lives today is a soul that struggles for that rest, holding within it the memories of the lives that came before it. Until that soul can purify itself, it carries with it the sins of the lives the soul had lived before.

When you fall asleep tonight, your dreams will be particularly lucid, dreams of lives past, and lives that have yet to come. When you awaken the next morning, you find yourselves living through the eyes of those who have passed and who will yet to be. For the next week, you will be in a fog, half yourself, half someone else, one struggling against the other for complete control. As the week progresses, the scenery about you will seem to bend and change, warping to the will of your collective soul, despite your best efforts to thwart their meddling. The thoughts and visions will grow stronger throughout the week, culminating at moonrise on Saturday, May 29th. When sleep finally claims you that night, the effect will fade, letting you return to the life your soul happens to be living now, uncontested... Unless your other soul had prepared well for their eventual return.

From the morning of Sunday, May 23rd through the night of Saturday, May 29th, characters may at times find themselves thinking they are someone from a past life. They may think they are hallucinating, or see visions of another place superimposed on their apartments' scenery. At times they may not even act themselves at all, but rather act as another soul, another person entirely. These hallucinations will start out infrequently at first, and increase until, at the end of the week, your character is fully convinced that he is this other person.

The definition of "past life" can vary! It can be a previous life shown in canon or it can be one you make up. It can be your character's actual past life or the life of a passing spirit. It does not have to be one of the families from the April Fool's event, nor does it have to be the persona to whom your character regressed during the age event. Go wild! For example, Jigoku is set roughly in the current century, so a Napoleonic soldier could totally be considered a "past life".

At moonrise on the 29th, characters will stop hallucinating and revert back to their normal selves. They will retain the memories of what they'd done for the past week -- though their memories may not be perfect, of course!

As always, questions, comments or concerns are welcome!
