Yeah, YOU don't click a button. But you can't control everyone on your f-list from doing the same. There's no opt-out option, which is part of the drama. It's still a sense of breaking a locked post and not keeping things as private as you'd like them to be (though nothing is "safe" on the Internet). Some people "quote" what you've said in their reply back to you.
To be fair, ANYONE can copypasta what's behind an f-lock, but this feature is just so stupid.
For me, I just don't like the x-posting and exposure. My Facebook and my LJ are two different things. Facebook, for me, is where I keep things slightly more professional, and for the most part, I filter out fandom-related things.
All I'm asking people here is to respect my wishes and not post whatever they write here elsewhere.
Right, yeah someone on the actual LJ thread cleared that up for me. I didn't twig that you could crosspost comments too, which seems pretty dumb but hey. Like you say, though, everything you trust to flocked stuff is at the whim of the people you're trusting. Surely anyone worth having on a friends filter would have the decency to NOT crosspost that stuff.
Of course, that's in an ideal world. :P I wonder if they will make it opt out now they've had more negative feedback than even the strikethrough stuff.

Surely if someone comments on a flocked post and crossposts it to twitter, anyone following it back still won't see the post? I mean, huh?
Sorry, genuinely don't get why it's caused such mass hysteria, is all.
