SO. BAD. OUCH, MY SPLEEN.

It was practically shot-for-shot, word-for-word the exact same episode as the British version. The biggest difference was ( spoilers )

life on mars

Nope! I'm devastated too, because I would definitely purchase it. When I went to London, it was just sitting there at the airport, teasing me with its Region 2-ness. And "Spaced" as well, but that eventually came out there.

So, is this, like, a second attempt already? WHY. PLEASE, STOP.

They were filming in LA or something, but during the earlier bit of this summer, they fired everyone and moved the production to NY and redid the pilot. So there are two American pilots available.

Oh, okay. Anyway, I hope they understand that the phrase "Third time's the charm" does NOT fit this situation. Let it go and air the original, people.

I saw the pre-air pilot which made me die inside so I decided not to watch. Seems to have been the right choice. I have the Region 2 DVD's of the original. Might be about that time to do another rewatch!

Yeah, I have the episodes on my external harddrive. I probably should invest in a region free DVD player but I just bought a new one.

I actually just googled the model number of my existing player and "region free" and found the hack to get it to work. Try that!

The pre-air pilot may have been worse, I think. It's hard to quantify this kind of fail. But the whole stalking the kid and no attempted suicide was the wrong move. I dunno, but I think the other was off more in tone?

Harey Keitel and Colm Meany were comparably solid. The thing they lack, I think, is the danger Phil Glennister brought. Interestingly, the pre-air pilot's Annie Cartwright, Rachelle Lefevre, was better than Gretchen Mohl's Annie NORRIS. And Mohl's a bigger name with more experience, yes?

Also, the US series makes me fear they may delay more in a Region 1 release. Perhaps something with distribution rights, or summat?

I'm sure it was. A friend of mine had a copy of it for awhile that he brought to Who party (our Saturday night get togethers to watch Who and whatever else we had at the time), but we weren't particularly interested in tormenting ourselves. I am still slightly curious, though, but if people are saying it's worse, I'll stay away.

I'm sure I'm being over-the-top biased on my judgment, but all the actors were lacking that "something", you know?

Maybe. Thank god they actually PLAYED "Life On Mars" when he got hit by a car and "Baba O'Reilly" when it did that 360 degree turn. I was gonna shoot things! Here's hoping that they put one out.

fuck me sideways.

Is there even a Hyde (not the park) in New York!?

I think the only slightly good thing was that they showed a very old picture of the Twin Towers.

Me too!

According to Wiki, there's a town of Hyde Park just north of Poughkeepsie. Maybe... there? I DON'T KNOW.
