Is it unreasonable to be quite happy to be on hold and have a certain piece of very old music come on? Or to be annoyed when, given the aforementioned, someone answers the phone?

No, not unreasonable at all. Quite jarring actually. Almost to the point where you want the person to put you back on hold.

Oh, I'm so glad that I'm not the only person who sometimes wants to say:

"I'm sorry, but can you just put me back on hold for 2.5 minutes? I just really like that song."
