You need to think about just how hurtful and inappropriate what you've just said to me is. I just told of friends of mine being assaulted and abused, and you've told me to chill. I will never chill while human rights are under attack. I will never chill in the face of hate crimes. It would be wrong to do so. A good friend would see that I am hurting and scared and show empathy or say nothing at all.

I wasn't referring to that, I was referring to you breaking out in hives over something you have no control over. Trump's election has nothing to do with these crimes, it's the ignorant people who do. And if you think what I said to you is hurtful and inappropriate, then I really don't have time to worry about hurt feelings when what I said wasn't referring to your pain, it was referring to the fact that people need to quit blaming Trump and his election and everything related to him to hate crimes. You seemed to be putting the two together, and I can tell you now it's not Trump. It's hateful people, period.

OMG! Totally with you and totally shocked at the scary and abhorrent behavior that's coming out of this election season. 2000 was my first voting election and I remember how that felt, and this is worse. Those voices who say to chill or that it's okay are not listening to those who say it's not okay, who are vulnerable to having their lives ended by the effects of the next 4 years.

No matter what we do, whether we protest in the streets or fight each other online, all of this is validating the villain's ego. This is exactly what he wanted. Every time our divisiveness makes the news and causes chaos, he gets a tiny boner and it's the best day of his life. I would rather not contribute to this anymore.
