Christmas, Doctor Who and Merlin ...

Dec 30, 2012 18:51

Hello England! I went off to Canada on the 20th to spend Christmas with my parents and we had a lovely time! I tried to spoil my parents rotten, but, they're very good at saying no. So I had to get tricky when it came to Christmas gifts. Suffice it to say, even my father was delighted with his gifts as I went very practical this year (Canadian Tire ( Read more... )

Those feels are going to be with us for a long, long time me thinks. And, knowing what's coming, I've watched the ep four times now and still cried each time. Oh boys ...

Bring on the stories was my feeling also. Although I really didn't want Arthur to die I got many other things from the finale that I did want and I'm glad they ended it in such a way that the stories are still possible. Oh boys...*sniffles*

I know this will be an unpopular opinion, I didn't enjoy it that much.

I didn't either. I deliberately left space for it after the emotions of the Merlin finale but it left me completely cold. I think Moffat's Who and I just don't connect and I can't quite work out why.

Glad you had a lovely Christmas :)

I too *really* didn't want the end to be Arthur's death. But, having reconciled myself to that fact, this ending was the best of endings I could have hoped for.

When that final episode began with the Mordred and Arthur scene so early on, I didn't know what to expect next! Bless, thank you Julian Jones -- for an episode that went beyond my expectations. As you said, so many possibilities for our boys.

And so glad to hear I wasn't the only one left unmoved by the Doctor Who episode. I'm utterly addicted to Moffat's Sherlock world, but his Doctor -- not so much.

Yes, I'm fine with his Sherlock but just not with his Doctor. To be honest I think his complex plotting suits Sherlock better than Doctor Who.

Exactly what I felt. They even made reincarnation canon so the story in my head goes that Arthur annoys the Sidhe so much that they let him out of Avalon as often as possible. Nowhere does it say he comes back only once :)

This!! I can so believe in this. Once healed up, Arthur would be so very, terribly, annoying :D. Oh the reincarnation options -- bring on the fic!

I found DW boring, too and more to the point, so did my kids.

I thought Merlin was heart-breakingly well done. I cried several times and I loved the way Arthur moved from mistrust to acceptance. Colin and Bradley were magnificent.

It's rather sad indeed that DW has fallen to this point; personally, I think trying to be ever so clever just doesn't work after a certain point -- whether it be a children's show or an adult show. And DW seems to have reached that point.

Please DW showrunners; decide what you want to focus on.

As for Merlin, don't get me crying again!! Colin and Bradley were truly magnificent in the final episode. Kudos to them for bringing alive a script which might have failed in lesser hands. Oh boys ... I'm going to miss you so much!
