The Ongoing Saga of Markus' Medical Adventures ...

So ... I just got back yesterday from 5 days in Florida for our International Budget Meetings. I had my regular cat sitter come to the house twice a day to check on the felines. All was apparently well ( Read more... )

*snuggles the little guy* I'm glad everything went well, even if he is now back in the cone of shame. (fwiw, if you've not seen the movie Up, you may not get that reference. I highly recommend the movie if you've not seen it. *G*)

If ever a kitty deserves snuggles, Markus does. He's been *such* a trooper for the past 3+ weeks. I only hope he puts up with the next 2 weeks with the same patience he's just displayed.

As for Up, I haven't seen it yet -- sounds like I need to soon!!

And thank you so much m'dear for the kind words!

Poor boy, it just doesn't end. However awesome that he's doing well considering it all and can be your little demanding lapcat :)

It really doesn't seem to end! But, as you said, taking everything into perspective, he's doing remarkably well. Today, the vet (and it's been the same vet throughout all of the visits and procedures and calls) once again reiterated how friendly and utterly charming Markus is. And he deliberately made the point that it wasn't just because he was treating Markus and I was expecting those words-- Markus really *is* a charming personality in their eyes. Apparently the nurses all agree. My Markus has a Fan Club at Fitzpatrick Referrals ;). \0/

On that note, I'd still rather be his number one fan back home in Walton :D.

Poor little guy! Sheppie isn't going to let him live down having the cone of shame twice!

Please give him hugs from me!

As I will soon have two cones in the household (thanks to Markus' earlier visit), I'm rather tempted to cone Sheppy as well! That should even up the ground just a wee bit ;).

But yes, I'll definitely pass on the kitty hugs -- hopefully tomorrow! Thank you m'dear :).

How is the little fella now? That is so worrying. I'm so sorry you're having to go through this.

What part of Florida did you visit? Patty is in Sarasota.

The little man is back home, curled up in his cage, recovering from a long day. We've had two snuggle sessions, but now I need to leave him to sleep and continue his recovery. And tomorrow, we begin our home grown physiotherapy sessions! Because of his knee injury, the vets are now concerned about his mobility. So, morning and night, I need to perform some physio moves on him -- along with heating and icing his knee before and after each session respectively. It's a good thing I don't have any travels planned until Xmas!!

As for Florida, I flew into Tampa and then headed off to Boca Grande -- gorgeous little island. Quite posh ;D. Apparently the Bush Family and the Obamas have vacationed there. Because it's a tiny little island on the Gulf Coast, they can block traffic to locals only and have submarines cruising around in the Gulf to ensure the safety of the Presidents :). Actually, it was all a bit surreal to be there during the elections!

vocally demanding

Oh, I imagine he has a lot to talk about! Tough times for you and poor Markus. I so hope after this new set of six weeks it will be over and done with and he'll have happier tales to tell.

Here's really hoping that this is the end of the journey; six weeks of cage rest, and then we move to six more weeks in one room. We're talking end of January now!

But Markus has been such a good sport throughout the process. The vet (lovely chap by the name of Miguel) keeps saying how sweet and friendly and lovely Markus is, and today, the new vet (filling in for Miguel who actually took a day off), told me Markus has won over everyone at the surgery with his friendly personality and that they're sad to see him go -- although obviously happy that I'm taking him home!!

::beams like a proud mum:: That's my boy!

But here's hoping once this is all done and dusted that our only visits to the vets in the foreseeable future will be for annual jabs.
