So. The diagnosis is that Sheppy has Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. Essentially, he has an inflammation of the bladder, but not one caused by infection -- as verified by the urine tests he underwent

Thank you m'dear! He's getting lots of cuddles right now. Although I don't think I'm going to be his favourite person in the mornings when I have to give him two capsules! (Although I'll probably be dissolving them in water and doing the syringe route -- much more effective and approved by the vet.)
Sweet baby cuddles! Yeah, I know about not being the favorite person. I'm so glad that Bitty doesn't often require meds. When she does, we usually get them in a form that can be disguised in her foods. She makes the WORST fur patient. One time we tried the syringe method of giving her liquid antibiotic, had her partially wrapped in a towel (to keep her from scratching us) on our bed because it was at a good height. She got even by peeing on our bedspread, through to the sheets.
::laughing out loud:: I'm just visualizing Bitty getting even! Thank you for that -- I needed a laugh. (Although I do feel for you and the bedspread ...)
As for Sheppy and syringes, fortunately, he's such a sweetie pie that he doesn't make a fuss at all other than grimacing once it's over. I'm very lucky in that respect. If Mila was the one needing daily pills I'd be at my wit's end -- she's a terror when it comes to anything being forced into her.
That's the million dollar question. Since I don't know what is stressing him, the vets have suggested I focus on his physical comfort first -- making sure he's got loads of water (and even suggesting I tuna flavour the water to make it more attractive!) and increase the amount of wet food he's eating. Plus add another two litter boxes to the house -- with three cats, I should have four indoor litterboxes -- I currently only have two :(.
After that, frankly, I'm not sure what more I can do ... let's hope things go well during the next three weeks.
The litter pan conundrum...ugh, no fun. We have multiples, but they are all in one place. Primarily because some folks have bad habits of aiming high and hitting walls. LOL
Awww. Nikita is currently on antibiotics. She got another abcess (it's healing well atm) I got capsules but have permission from vet to open them and mix the powder w tuna and she hoovers it all up so that's nice and easy.
I have had to pill her up to 3 times a day combined with putting ointment on her allergy rashes 2x a day when she's had a bad allergy breakout (hasn't happened in a while now w the hypoallergenic + tuna in springwater diet). Anyway wasnt her fav person at that point.
Best of luck w destressing. Also try to destress yourself! Cats are great at picking up on your moods if you're close and that can affect them as well

You're the first person to have cottoned onto this. Even the vets didn't mention it. Sheppy and I are rather close; he's not my precious undeservedly. And I have been stressed at work for the past couple of months. I wouldn't be surprised if he's picked that up from me.
So. How do I go about destressing myself? Hmmm ... must think ...
I thought of it because Nikita is pretty tuned into me and is scared of my phone and the door knocker because I always react when they go (she's not scared of my alarm clock which sais a lot about my mornings, heh..)
I'm sorry to hear about your little guy but I'm glad they have a diagnosis and his meds are working. Half the battle with pets is figuring out what's wrong. Give him big hugs from me!
The meds do seem to be working and bless the little lad, he forgives me the insertion of a syringe down his throat within seconds of it happening. I know I wouldn't be so forgiving!

I wish you and your babies the best. I know how hard it is especially when they can't tell you when they hurt or what is wrong.
