Icon Battle

So .... while the fabulous beeej was here in England, we talked about an Icon Battle between ourselves and were rather taken by the idea. Ergo, once she returned home, we sorted through our various collection of pictures, narrowed down the choices, exchanged images, and the Battle Royale commenced

This is a wonderful idea, and I love all your icons. I've always liked both of your stuff. I tried to see if I could pick a 'winner' and I think I did like more of your icons overall (very close), but having said that, I'd love to snerch one to replace my One Merlin Icon, and it's going to be 3B :) How's that for diplomacy? *g*

3B is a brilliant icon! It's one of my favourites (as beeej and I exchanged our icons before we posted :), I got a sneak preview.)

And I'm glad you enjoyed the collection! We both felt rather inspired -- which is a very good thing.

I was trying to remember *which* one of your icons I had for a long time, and it was McKay and Beckett 'this party sucks' LOL. It feels right to have a beeej icon again *g*

These are brilliant! I like the idea of an icon battle and the results are fun to see. I'm taking some from column A and column B. (Do you need to know which ones?) I agree with you about 3B. The close up and the background really make it a "winner".

How about some lessons in icon making? It's an art form unto itself. When I've tried to enter icon contests, the results always look better in my mind's eye, than they do on the computer, especially backgrounds. :)

Thank you!! Both beeej and I were keen about the idea of an Icon Battle as it challenged us while still allowing us to be creative. We were both happily surprised by the results!

And no need to tell us which ones you're taking -- although I suspect we're both curious as to which ones you liked best :D.

As for lessons, both beeej and I have thought about putting up some tips that we've picked up from trial and error -- and I certainly have a lot of errors in my past!!

Yep, I agree with everything jhava just said there. And I think I'll put up a poll to see what people might be interested in icon tips and how-tos, and then I can create a filter for those folks. One thing they often do during "Member of the Month" at icon_crack, is to post a selection of their icons as they have progressed over time. THAT would be interesting - and funny!
