Can't say I've tried anything reprap-like, but I've certainly built shelves and animal cages in my days (so, more carpentry, metalwork and the like rather than extrusions or CAM).

That's what I thought (and explicitly said I hadn't fooled about with it). I do find the subject matter interesting, though. Not so much as an end in itself, but as a tool towards other ends.

Maybe you need to build a CandyFab... You know you want to!

Aye. Looking to tinker with a CupCake CNC or Fab@Home Model 1 for a couple of projects. Probably the former on the basis of price
