Sorry to hear that your wrists are giving you pain, I do CAD work all day so I know how repetitive typing can cause pain.
A co-worker of mine switched from a regular mouse to a track-ball, where only your thumb is in motion. He says this has helped the pain/motion in his wrists compared to a regular mouse. Have you tried one out?

It just occured to me that your problem is mostly typing, where the track-ball is probably mostly useful for computer screen activity....like CAD....still may give you a break if used part time...???

I'm thinking maybe I need to experiment with voice activated software maybe. I don't think it would work for writing, but it might work for email and that kind of thing.
