you know, I kind of thought you'd flip it right back to the beginning - and I adored it. Really I did. It was simple and made everything so much better knowing that Abed tried to make Jeff see what he wouldn't admit to himself.

Even though he didn't manage to keep her from getting away I'm glad Jeff took Abed's advice in the end.

Bravo :)

Did you just... Did you just re-set the story? I'm... That's.

Huh. Well, okay, then. Neat-o. I liked it (the whole story) ;->

Love it.

An ending that can be taken either as a flashback or as a do over, and works just as well for either.

This chapter reminded me of the movie, 25th Hour, where the father narrates the whole life his son could have before him, if he drives him out of state, instead of to prison. Wife, kids, happiness, the lot. You see Ed Norton's character live this life, and think 'well, it's not often you see a criminal get away with it in a Hollywood movie, but that's awesome'. The movie is ending on a real high.... And then it cuts back to dad and son in the car, not driving out of state, but just going to jail.

The road not travelled, but in this case (as I'm reading it as a reset, rather than a flashback) it might work out so much better for Jeff and Annie.

This fic is dedicated to my parents, who are such real world versions of Jeff and Annie that it makes my head hurt sometimes. Thankfully, someone long ago gave them a speech much like this one from Abed, and now 32 years of marriage and six kids later, they’re still ridiculously in love.

Awwwwww....this is the sweetest.
