LJ Idol Week 36 - "Tiles"

Jill suppressed a sob, wiping a faintly grubby hand across her reddened eyes. Sorting through her mother's house was proving even more difficult than she'd thought it would be. ...the good bowls used only at birthday parties...

This detail really stood out and made me sad.

Ooh! I like where this is going!

"D2 A1 D2"...
..."A1 B3 S1 E1 N1 T1"

Aww!

"F4 I1 G2 U1 R1 E1 S1"

Oh. Never mind.

Well that took a turn.

I know I'm kind of live-blogging this, but that's because I want you to know hoe much I appreciate all of these fun twists. Well done!

This is one of my favorites from you now. The gist twists every paragraph or so, but I especially loved the Scrabble rule based communication. The twist at the end was also superb--I almost feel like Alex earned it for his regular habits. When I play video games while my wife is around, I do so with the sound off and legs prepped to spring into action for her.

I do this to avoid getting shanked by hovering knives. Great piece.

Your stories just keep getting better and better! Loved the Scrabble communication. Also: boardgames! Catan, Tsuro, yay! She sounds like she owns Carcassonne with all its extensions.

Aww, thanks!

We only have the basic Carcassone, plus the expansion that came with it. Settlers we have Cities and Knights, up to six players. ;)
