The autumn air was brisk, and the warm glow of my first sip smouldered nicely within me.
My spouse and I used to have a fire pit behind our house, and spending spring and fall evenings with wine and bourbon is one of my fondest memories.
His leg touched mine, and I froze. My blood was racing through my body, driven by whisky and desire. He stilled, and I held my breath as he turned to look at me.
The joyful longing in the first part of this really got under my skin in such a wonderful way. Watching Jimmy age as he does, full of love and surprisingly little regret, brought to me memories while at the same time remaining unique to the character. The cemetery was a perfect setting for this story, which was ultimately about the pros and cons of mortality.
