 Remember that PTO silent auction I made that effing blanket for in the Fall? Well, P just handed me the school newsletter for last week, and since that is their most successful fundraiser every year they've decided to have one in the Spring now, too. They are having it in March, and are asking parents to volunteer to put together another class ( Read more... )

Our elem. school did the same stupid thing a few years ago. It only happened once because they didn't make nearly as much money.

Your throw rocks, btw. I love the mix & match...it looks very Weasleyish!

It turned out quite well, in spite of the lack of donations, but I'm not doing another basket in the same year. The auction works because it's a few weeks before xmas. One in March is not going to be anywhere near as successful, but I guess they have to crash and burn to learn...

The basket auction we have in the fall (the one I headed up several years ago) makes loads of money. The PTA tried it just once in the spring several years ago and not only did they get way less donations, but hardly anyone showed. The did it as a dinner thing where you paid for a plate and then could bid on the silent auction. There's a fine line between good fundraising and just plain over doing it!

They were supposed to be doing a yard sale this Spring, and it looks like this is instead. Dumb! The yard sale is a much better Spring idea.
