you always knew to wear it well

I'm coming out of my "omg thesis" mode a little - I did laundry and cleaned the bathroom today as well as organizing a handful of notes and grading the rest of my students' papers. I'm sure I'll fully relax back into general productivity right about the time I get this draft back from my committee and start revising. I'm trying to milk this brief ( Read more... )

Everyone should come to Mardi Gras at least once; it's amazing and an experience utterly unlike anything else. I'll be happy to play tour guide! ^^

Totally respect you for keeping up with the running. Mad props. Also, I care about silky hair and shampoo. <3

I wish I was more consistent with it than I am, but I've finally gotten to a point where I'm not beating myself up for not being able to run every day (or even every other day). My schedule is what it is, and I don't want guilt associated with an activity that I enjoy so much, so I've been making a concentrated effort to be proud of myself when I can run and not get down on myself when I can't.

I'm glad I had silky hair related news, then :P

I actually enjoyed hearing about your running, coz. Whatever gives us pleasure, no? And physical activity does so. As Elle Woods said: "Exercise gives you endorphins. Endorphins make you happy. Happy people just don't shoot their husbands."

I was a sprinter once too, but now I can't even jog very well - knee problems. So these days, my exercise consists of push-ups, sit-ups and the like. Still, I miss is - there truly is nothing like the rush you get when pushing yourself against the wind, leaving everything behind you, the wind rushing in your hair.

Hair is actually interesting. I wish my hair was more interesting - my bangs are really the only interesting part of it, since they tend to be blown into what people tell me are very interesting positions. I once grew pe'ot, though, and that was very interesting.

I'm glad you had fun in the Mardi Gras. One day, I too shall have to come visit it, hopefully with you.

I love that quote. Actually I like that movie a lot more than I expected to; it's so goofy that I can't help but laugh at it.

Knee problems seem to plague many of my friends. I'm a total wimp at push-ups, and on the whole I suck at exercise that isn't running or yoga - and I'm really sporadic/unreliable about the yoga. Thank the stars for a naturally high metabolism, or between my terrible exercise habits and my abiding love for sweet foods, I'd be the size of a blimp.

My hair is rather boring: I wash it and comb it and it air-dries to straight as a board. Go go Native American blood, I suppose. I imagine yours was quite interesting to deal with.

Mardi Gras is pretty much always fun, unless the weather decides to be totally evil, which hasn't happened in years. Come visit! Everyone should at least once :D

3 miles in 31 minutes is really impressive! This summer when I was in really good shape from hiking 5+ hours a day I ran one mile in 11 minutes and felt like a god. I probably couldn't have WALKED another two though. Haha, and yesterday I ran a 13 minute mile and I sure hurt today. Yup, I'm pretty impressed with your running skills.

It doesn't feel that impressive to me, but thanks ^^;; I'm averaging times more in the 33-34 minute range, but I figure as long as I'm improving, that's the point, right?

I'd say the point is to enjoy yourself and feel good about yourself, not to do it under a certain time frame. =)
