under sleep, where all the waters meet

I wrote 325 words of my paper this morning, in two hours, while watching The Secret Garden. Inspired by this success, I've laid out my writing goals in terms of words per day, and I shall have the paper done by Sunday. I timed myself reading the section I have written, and it looks like, time-wise, I only need about 2400 words. I'm allowing myself ( Read more... )

Hi Mary! I'm glad to see your paper is still coming strong. When it's finished, you should email it to me. I'd like to read it, even if I may not be able to make much sense of it. But hearing about it has been really interesting, and I'm pretty envious of your ability to write a paper on such a subject.

I need to come see you at Borders soon! How are you doing there? How's life?

Also, if you're going to China ... send me a postcard! I collect postcards/stamps, so if you remember, that would be lovely. And cheap. xD

Life is good, though hectic and busy (well, what a surprise, right?), and Borders is good, too. Everything but this paper is kinda boring right now, lol. I'll happily email it to you - what's your email?

For that matter, what's your mailing address? You can message it to me on here or email it to me at shahrizaipoet at gmail - it will be a lot easier to send you a postcard when I know where I'm sending it, right? :P

Yeah, that's probably a reputable enough site to back up the basics. Thanks!

Agreed about TdA; I don't care about the fetes anymore and guesting has really lost its luster since activity is so low (which I guess is the point of getting new members- to spike the postcount.) The library entries are looking up because people are suddenly enthusiastic, but everything else is quiet. It would be nice if we could get linked to from more places, but...people will show up when they show up.

Yay for China! You really don't have to get me anything, but knowing my refusal to accept that when people tell me...if you see something that reminds you of me for some reason, go for it. If not, lucky cats are really excellent (except the overly gold ones with creepy eyes.)

Sorry for the hyper tone, I just ate way too much of the sugary dual fillings for the brownies I made and it's making me a little twitchy. Have an amazing time in China!

I liked guesting with Miri and Samaria, and they (and a couple of others) are pretty much why I'm still on the site. Other than that, I feel that there's a disproportionate amount of activity for very little *content*. Which could just be my snobby English major self showing through, but...

I will keep my eyes open for something, then, and not get blinged out lucky cats :P Thanks for the good wishes; I'm sorry I've been essentially MIA this past while.

Yeah, I already did the most active Houses and I'm having trouble working up the motivation to move elsewhere. I really have to agree about the content problem; to me, the book forums should be the -most- active. Presumably we've all read at least one, and that's, what, assuming an average of 700 pages...4900 pages of dense and fascinating material that is the basis for the entire site. And hardly anyone consistently stays in threads in that section. There's so much spam everywhere else that I know people have time, and it frustrates me.

Thanks for keeping your eyes open! Don't get me wrong, silver is gorgeous, but bling is scary. :-P And don't worry about being MIA; you're writing the paper of a lifetime, taking a trip you've wanted to take forever, and frankly being a busy grad student. If life calms down and you want to talk, excellent and my PM box is forever open, but I'm mainly really happy for you. :)

I only guested in the Houses I was interested in (and Mandrake), but even so I got a pretty good tour of them. I think Heliotrope would have bored me, and Dahlia, Orchis, and Cereus weren't even open then. I wish the Library was more active; I try to keep it going when I can. Lately it seems everyone's so busy though.

Bright stars above, I hope this isn't the paper of my lifetime! It doesn't involve Shakespeare AT ALL lol. Hopefully the two months after this trip where all I do is work at Borders and read tons will provide me with plenty of peace and time to talk to people again ^^;; Tell Ian he's getting a lucky cat too unless he has something else he wants - something that is not bladed, illegal, or likely to get me thrown in Chinese prison.

I don't normally get presents from you but ohhhh gosh if you do end up with 50 lucky cats and can only think of 49 recipients, I'm more than willing to be that #50. Lucky cats make me smile so much, I have a little jingly one on my cell phone. :3
