Not just that but the entire cultural homogeneity of the Federation in general. The only characters we see in TNG who have any culture to them that is not stereotypical Federation culture is Worf. Even Counselor Troi often seems ashamed of her Betazoid heritage and religion, as seen by certain aspects of her relationship with her mother.

I am tempted, on occasion, to dust off a fic idea I had of the human colony of believers in either Klingon or Romulan space, where they had fled after their passive-aggressive persecution by the Federation for holding to "Outmoded, illogical, and irrational belief systems".
