That part of Idaho is gorgeous. Sandpoint is small - no doubt about it - but Spokane is perhaps an hour west and it is a far bigger place. Seattle is two hours if you both (a) fly,and (b) need a big city fix.
Congrats, Hal! I'm really excited for you. I was nervous moving up to Rochester, which is a much bigger city than Sandpoint but I had remarkably similar concerns. I think you'll love the adventure and find a lot of joys in being out of a major metropolis (though they'll always be some things you miss).
Thanks! It'll be hard to give up the Atlanta coffeeshop and restaurant scene, I must admit. There are also some fantastic concert venues and theaters that I'll miss. Still, Audrey and I are looking forward to all the hiking, and if you go to Sandpoint.com, you'll find some aerial shots that would excite any pilot. It'll be an adventure. Any general advice for the transition, or is it more fun to find out on your own?
Wow, that is going to be quite a change! But I am excited for you... I hope you still come to visit at some point!
My word of advice... get lots of good coats. You probably already know what to do for winter gear though. I can't say I've experienced moving from a big city to a little one... I went in the reverse order, sort of. But best of luck to you!
