Biking - Things I've Learned

I thoroughly enjoy riding my bike. I'm no longer afraid of the main streets but I do prefer those with bike lanes. I'm totally aware of my surroundings and positioning in traffic and keep my eye out for drivers who aren't. My greatest fear is getting "doored," so I try to avoid heavy retail and shopping areas. I see beautiful fixed gears here, but the riders are dicks and the constant motion seems daunting. Single speeds are probably the most popular. I have never seen so many bikes in my life. They are everywhere. Every kind of person imaginable rides. Of course, I like to look at the details... lights, racks, panniers, handlebars, paint, decals/stickers.
